Halley J. Peters — Of Counsel

A former judicial clerk, accomplished criminal defense attorney, and dedicated advocate — Halley J. Peters brings over a decade of courtroom experience and a deeply personal commitment to her clients to the Jackwin Legal, P.A. team.

A Career Built on Advocacy.

Halley J. Peters is a criminal defense attorney licensed in Florida, Michigan, and California, with over a decade of experience defending individuals facing some of the most serious criminal charges in state and federal courts. As Of Counsel at Jackwin Legal, P.A., she brings that depth of experience to our clients — with the same commitment to Compassionate Advocacy that defines everything we do.

Halley’s passion for criminal defense is not accidental. It was forged in the courtrooms, institutions, and communities where she first encountered the human cost of the legal system — and where she decided to dedicate her practice to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Trained at the Highest Levels of Florida’s Courts.

Before entering private practice, Halley served as a judicial clerk for Florida Supreme Court Justice E.C. Perry and for Appellate Judge Leslie B. Rothenberg at Florida’s Third District Court of Appeals. These clerkships provided Halley with an inside view of how appellate courts analyze legal arguments, evaluate evidence, and apply the law — a perspective that continues to inform and sharpen her advocacy for clients at every stage of a case.

Criminal Defense Is Personal. So Is This Work.

Halley’s approach to criminal defense is shaped by her earliest experiences as a practicing attorney: teaching law inside a juvenile correctional facility for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and working in the first drug courts in Miami, Florida. In those settings, she encountered firsthand the personal struggles — addiction, family hardship, socioeconomic stress, and mental health challenges — that so often underlie criminal cases.

That experience fundamentally shaped her practice. Halley does not measure success by case volume. She measures it by outcomes, by relationships, and by the knowledge that every client received the quality of representation they deserved. She brings that same standard to her work at Jackwin Legal, P.A.

Her law review thesis, focused on the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, argued that rehabilitation serves public safety and reduces recidivism far more effectively than incarceration — a conviction that continues to guide how she approaches every client and every case.
